Amazing little pub. Pat is incredibly nice and pours the best Guinness. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

The spring salmon run on the river moy is in full swing at the moment and most anglers are catching fish, the locals don't call salmon... salmon.. they call them fish, and so a few English friends and my favorite brother in law? got our gear together and went fishing; one of the lads from London landed a real beauty 12lbs and as light began to fade we decided to go to the pub to celebrate and there is nowhere better than Pat Guirys angling pub in Foxford. When we arrived the place was full and fishing was the only conversation to be had. There were anglers from Austria.. Germany...France.. Switzerland...and of course our friends from London, the walls were festooned with pictures of anglers from all *corners of the world with these great big salmon. The ceiling was covered with a mixture of new and antique fishing rods and reels and it was not unusual to see a visitor as his money went over the counter receive a fishing rod along with his round of drinks in Guirys. After a while Pat the owner of the pub persuaded John to bring the 🐟 in and put him up on the bar and in doing so raised a loud cheer from the now slightly inebriated anglers, then the Germans decided to buy a round of jagermeisters for the house and for some peculiar reason Brexit came in to my head as the londoners were saying danke to the Germans for the jagermeisters and as the night wore on we all just morphed into fellow human beings, without histories or politics or different languages. Great night, and Guirys made it all possible.
